Owner and Trainer: Sarah Wobbe
I grew up in Elmira, Oregon graduating from Marist High School in 1999. I played Division I Basketball at The University of Utah. My degree is in Exercise and Sport Science. I have been a personal trainer for 9 years. Seven of those years were training at Oakway Fitness Center here in Eugene. I train in as many different ways as possible. I enjoy being in the outdoors. I camp, hike, and rock climb as much as possible in the summer time.

Exercise can be hard, but the reward and the feeling of accomplishment once something difficult is completed is one of the best feelings in the world. The challenge of controlling your mind to force your body to overcome an overwhelming task is something of true value. Being fit and living a healthy lifestyle can bring a tremendous amount of satisfaction to one’s life. My goal is to have the opportunity to share this with all that come to my gym.

 

Trainer: Claudia Sanchez
I was born in Mexico and lived there until I was 9 years old when my parents decided to move us to Springfield, Oregon where I’ve been since. I played volleyball and basketball in middle school and it was then that I realized I wasn’t very good at playing sports. I enjoyed staying active though so after high school I went to LCC and enjoy the fitness classes that were offered there. I also tried many gyms. I’ve done all the spin classes, step classes, even some dance classes and I’ve also had my share of trainers but after a while I found that the challenge and variety in the fitness classes stopped and I got bored.
In 2010 I decided to try something different. Since I’ve always struggled with my weight I signed up for a weight loss challenge at a local gym and that’s where I met Sarah Wobbe. She was the trainer for the group I was in. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were evident in her work as a trainer and it was contagious so I continued taking her classes at Oakway Fitness and had her as a personal trainer. I am happy to report that I haven’t had a dull moment in my workouts since.

A big turning point for me was when Sarah once said to me ‘don’t believe stereotypes, if you want to be in a bikini by summer it is up to you, you have control over that.’ I honestly believed I was going to be chubby the rest of my life because no matter how much I exercised I was still on the heavier side. I decided to put it to the test, she helped me change my diet and I continued with interval training. I have changed my body in ways I couldn’t ever imagine I could. It is tough, it is challenging but the rewards make it all worth it!! Every time I step into the gym I remember that it is up to me and that I have control over the results, I challenge myself, I keep track of my time, my distance, my weights, set myself goals and don’t stop until I get them. No excuses.

I love being fit and having a healthy life style because it spills into everything else in my life and makes it that much better. When the opportunity came to work with Sarah in her new gym and become a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer I jumped at the opportunity. I did it in hopes that I can inspire someone to change like Sarah inspired me to do so and to also create an environment in the gym that makes you want to work hard and come back for more.
